Finding Vivian Maier

The Gist: A documentary about the discovery of a cache of over 100,000 photographs taken by a nanny that has brought her worldwide posthumous fame as one of the most prolific and accomplished street photographers ever.

As a photographer myself, and one who loves street photography, watching Finding Vivian Maier made me yearn for the kind of access Ms. Maier had to a big city's streets, bustling with activity at all times of days and night.

The Bottom Line: This Oscar nominated documentary is very interesting for the amount of detail about Ms. Maier's life and work. She was very creative and talented, and it's a pity that no one knew while she was still alive.
