The Gist: An American scientist suddenly announces he’s defeating to the USSR. His shocked fiancé, dumbfounded, decides to follow him to figure out why. The reason will turn out to be unexpected, suspenseful, and thrilling.
The Bottom Line: One of Hitchcock’s best in my opinion. Torn Curtain’s plot twists keep you firmly on the edge of your seat and the suspense is positively palpable. Oh, and Paul Newman is totally handsome.
