Raiders of the Lost Ark

THE GIST
: Famed archeologist Indiana Jones is tasked by the US government with finding the legendary Ark of the Covenant before it falls into the hands of Hitler's Nazis.

Given the dearth of new releases coming out because Covid-19 threw the calendar into upheaval, some theaters have been showing older titles in the hopes of enticing audiences to venture out to the cineplexes.

I had watched Raiders of the Lost Ark on TV back when I was a teen probably, so I figured I'd experience it as it was meant to be watched, on the big screen.

I enjoyed it as much as I had years ago, although I did find the visual effects quite dated - a bit disappointing if one considers that this movie came out after Star Wars . . .

The acting is good, even though a few lines from the script did sound somewhat cheesy.

THE BOTTOM LINE: The first in a very successful franchise, Raiders doesn't disappoint and serves up quite a few thrills. A fun adventure for sure.

Grade: 7.5
