The Cakemaker

THE GIST
: Oren, a Jewish man happily married and with a son in Israel, frequently travels to Berlin for work. There, he meets and seduces Thomas, who works in a bakery. Eventually, Thomas will have to make a trip to Israel he never imagined he would.

The Cakemaker is a movie about love and grief and the many facets that they can have for different people.

A great screenplay and a light-touch direction enable Tim Kalkhof, Sarah Adler, Roy Miller, and Zohar Shtrauss to really shine.

THE BOTTOM LINE: This is one of those small gems of gay-themed cinema that can't be missed, but it's a great movie regardless of that particular niche genre. A must-see!
