What goes around...

I wrote in a previous post about the hopes of the GOP that the exodus of Democratic voters from New Orleans and Louisiana caused by hurricane Katrina will end the Democrat's grip on the area, which could now fall into Republican hands like pretty much the rest of the south.

Now, that might very well happen, and would be unfortunate, but then I started thinking about where the survivors that have left New Orleans are going. The vast majority are being relocated in surrounding states, where many will likely settle. Bringing with them their right to vote.

Many will probably relocated somewhere in Texas, since many are being moved to Houston as we speak, which could eventually spell trouble for the Republican hold on that state. Same goes for other Republican strongholds in the south.

All these Democrats spreading around might be just enough to turn a slight Democratic minority into a slight Democratic majority in areas vital to the Republicans in their electoral count for the Presidency. Congress Republicans might suffer as well, since there is plenty of time for these people to settle and register to vote in time for the midterm elections.

Payback time might be within their reach just over a year from now.
