Nurse Jackie

The final season of this excellent dramedy starts out right where season 6 left off, that is, with Jackie being arrested for possession on her way to the airport after stopping to save the victim of an accident.

Her prison stint results in a heap of problems, foremost of which is the loss of her job. No job means no purpose and no easy access to drugs, which, together, bring out Jackie's most vicious and fighting self.

Hard as she tries to get her life back on track, whether it's a healthy track or not, outside events, as usual, throw major curve balls her way.

I had come to really love this show, so part of me was quite sad to see it end, but given the premise of an individual who is addicted to drugs, who cannot kick the habit, whose job is to care for sick people even though it also gives her easy access to the very substances that keep her hooked, it couldn't go on much longer without becoming stale and repeating.

In fact, at times it already felt like the writers had no more original ideas and were just rehashing old plots or experimenting with outlandish ones.

At any rate, a very good show that once again showed us what a great actress Edie Falco is and introduced us to the wonderful Merritt Wever.

Grade - Season 7: 8
