The Endless

THE GIST: Two brothers escaped a UFO death cult when they were kids. As adults, their lives look pretty bleak and monotonous, carried on in a seemingly dystopian world. One day, a videotaped message from a woman from the cult surfaces, bringing back memories that push one of the two to want to go back. The other grudgingly follows him.

The Endless is the kind of movie that sounds cooler than it ends up being, which is unfortunate. You really want to like it more, because clearly the effort shows on the part of the two protagonists, who also co-directed and one wrote the film.

Unfortunately, while mildly interesting, the final product leaves you wanting, mostly for the various head-scratching moments when you wonder why a certain choice was made when clearly it wasn't the smartest one.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Hardly recommended and only for the very curious ones out there. It's not a bad movie, but it could have been better.
