Last night Fabrizio called me from Turin, where he arrived safe and sound. I'm glad. He wasn't though. He was very sad and frustrated about going back to a town he doesn't particularly love after having visited the city he loves most in the world, New York City. He told me his flight from NY left almost 2 hours late, which his horrible, due to traffic and a storm that (lucky for us) brought down the temperatures of about 20 degrees. He had, however, been upgraded to business class from economy, so it wasn't half as bad as it would have been. I know he had fun here, and I sincerily hope he had a good vacation, albeit very short. I had lots and lots of fun when we were together. We had two full days all to ourselves, Monday and Saturday. Monday, we went to the beach in Stratford (I didn't put on sunscreen, so I kinda burned myself, but not too badly,) then to lunch in Westport, and finally we did some shopping at Linens 'n Things (which disappointed me a little; they used to have nicer stuff when I worked there a couple years ago; also, there was nobody left working there from back then anymore, so it was a little weird.) Saturday, we actually went to the day spa to get a nice massage and then to the mall for some last minute shopping. I got a beautiful shirt that I can't wait to wear. Sunday, the day he left, was sad and emotional. Daniel, I believe, could feel he was leaving. He wasn't himself all day long. Fabry was very good with the kids, and I'm sure they got attached to him quite a bit. He's in Lisbon, Portugal, for work today and I told him to check out a couple spots I liked to go to when I went there in 1996 with Ray (our first "real" vacation as a couple.) I especially loved sittin at the Torre de Belem (Belem Tower) and look at the sun set on the horizon. I'm sure I drove Ray nuts, since I love sunsets and I dragged him there countless times. But it was very romantic. Belem is also a city in Brasil, which is significant because they are like a link between the two countries that goes back to when Portugal sent its conquistadores overseas to find new riches for the crown. I hope he's having fun over there, at least a little.
