The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1

The Gist: After having destroyed the games' arena, Katniss Everdeen is whisked away to safety to District 13, where she's asked to be the face of the rising rebellion against the Capital. She warily accepts to take on this new role, but with Peeta still captive and President Snow out for blood, she will face some tough choices.

This third chapter was supposed to conclude the Hunger Games trilogy, but of course the studio decided to break it into two movies to make more money off it, so this is only Part 1.

All things considered, the movie is entertaining and flows pretty well. Jennifer Lawrence is back as Katniss and certainly delivers the goods. This time around Gale (hunky Liam Hemsworth) finally features more prominently, while Peeta (the adorable Josh Hutcherson) is mostly relegated to the sidelines.

This episode features the great Julianne Moore as President Coin and is dedicated to the late Philip Seymour Hoffman. What a loss.

The Bottom Line: The Hunger Games as a whole is a pretty entertaining tale, so I would definitely recommend it, although if you haven't watched the first two installments, make sure you start there. These are definitely not to be jumped into randomly. Anyway, a good third round. Looking forward to the conclusion.
