Marilyn Monroe, a silver screen legend, was found dead today, August 8th, in 1962.

I saw this link on the BBC site and immediately followed it.

I love Marilyn Monroe, always have. That aura of childish innocence that accompanied virtually everyone of her roles is unmatched and unforgettable. She was a fine actress with a sweet and gentle personality, who was viewed by the world as mainly a sex-symbol.

I remember watching a documentary a while back about her life and mysterious death, and I remember feeling very touched by her unstable childhood, caused by her mother's mental problems.

The mystery surrounding her death only adds to her image as one of a handful of icons from the 20th Century that will probably live forever, on paper and on the silver screen.
