Well, isn't it about time somebody found the balls to challenge this administration's abuse of power?!
I just read this article on the BBC's website about two Yemeni men claiming to have been held in secret underground prisons by the US for more than 18 months without being charged of any crime!!
Isn't that reassuring, to know that the government can just arrest you for whatever reason, or maybe even without a reason, maybe just because they don't like the color of your skin or because of what you're wearing. That they can throw you in jail, without charges, and keep you there for more than a year and a half. Moreover, they can even transfer you to other countries, were they legally and openly practice torture, so that they can "work" on you for a while. All this without ever seeing a lawyer, mind you.
The scariest thing is probably the fact that these prisons are underground and secret, which means that they could be anywhere in the world and that if you end up there... you might as well be in the Twilight Zone, 'cause no one will ever know where you are and how to find you. And your friends and family will just be left wondering whatever happened to you in the first place.
Hat tip to Amnesty International for fighting Goliath.
