Well, don't we have the most hard working, you-have-to-support-the-troops, on-top-of-everything President ever!!

I was livid after reading this post on AMERICAblog. Here is the full article from the Washington Post.

I just can't believe that this President, after being appointed by a court instead of by the people, after having lost the vote the first time and narrowly won it the second time (and don't get me started on the s**t he had to pull to win the second time around,) after having thrown us into a war based on lies, recanted every single promise he made to get in the Oval Office and to please the constituency that voted for him, all he can do is go on vacation.

He just feels so untouchable and omnipotent it's sickening. Following are some quotes from the article that are particularly stricking:
The president departed Tuesday for his longest stretch yet away from the White House
and don't think he hadn't gone on vacation yet, that he spent all his time in office up to now working for the American people or something like that!! (By the way, that "yet" is kinda scary, since it means he might take an even LONGER vacation at some point in the future...) And to prove my point:
By historical standards, it is the longest presidential retreat in at least 36 years
And it keeps going:
The August getaway is Bush's 49th trip to his cherished ranch since taking office and Tuesday was the 319th day that Bush has spent, entirely or partially, in Crawford -- roughly 20 percent of his presidency to date
Can you believe that?!!? That's almost a year of vacation, and he's been in office FOUR AND A HALF YEARS!!!!
Bush's periodic two-hour midday exercise sessions and his disinclination to work nights or weekends
Poor lil' George, we wouldn't want you to get tired, dear... Hey, George, wake up, you're not a regular white collar dude, you occupy the highest office in the land and arguably in the WORLD!!! And it's not like you don't get a nice salary to go with it, without counting the perks... And sure, you were making much more money before, but hey, we didn't ask you to run! Now do your job!!
Until now, probably no modern president was a more famous vacationer than Ronald Reagan, who loved spending time at his ranch in Santa Barbara, Calif. According to an Associated Press count, Reagan spent all or part of 335 days in Santa Barbara over his eight-year presidency -- a total that Bush will surpass this month in Crawford with 3 1/2 years left in his second term
That's shocking people!! This guy has already beat the previous record and still has a loooong way to go (unless we're lucky and next year take back Congress and remove the useless prick and his "daddy" from office.)

Doesn't he realize that the average person only get 10 vacation days a year? That's only 80 days in 8 years. He has already taken 320. 320!! I don't know how much vacation the most important CEOs in this country get, but I doubt it's that much (I also doubt they screw up as much and as often as this guy has.)

Even his staff knows how bad all this time off looks to the American people:
his staff has peppered his schedule with events to dispel any impression that he is not on duty
And finally:
At some point, Bush told reporters Monday, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld will visit for consultations. "I have a busy couple of weeks down there," Bush said.
Poor George, two busy weeks. Let's hope he doesn't develop an arrythmia or something like that. Otherwise he might have to take some time off from work. Maybe this time he can file it under "disability," we wouldn't want him to use up all his vacation time when he's sick.

One final point. The previous record holder was Ronald Reagan, a Replublican. The current record holder is George Bush, a Republican.

Hmm, what is it that Howard Dean said recently?
"You think people can work all day and then pick up their kids at child care or wherever and get home and still manage to sandwich in an eight-hour vote? Well Republicans, I guess can do that. Because a lot of them have never made an honest living in their lives."
How can anyone dispute that? Just look at two out of the last three Republican Presidents' record.
