The X-Files

One of my favorite shows growing up, The X-Files was rebooted for a limited "6-episode event" back in 2016. While the end result wasn't spectacular, it must have generated enough audience interest for another season, which will likely be its last.

Season 11's structure is pretty standard, meaning there are some standalone episodes exclusively dealing with a defined threat and there are those that deal with the series-spanning conspiracy theory of the government keeping information about aliens living among us from the public.

The former ones are quite well made, with our team of sleuths chasing odd clues that lead to weird and sometimes "cool" monsters.

The latter ones benefit from the addition of William, Mulder and Scully's son, whom they had given up for adoption to shield him from those who would use him to further their nefarious plans.

I enjoyed this last season more than the previous one, so if you're a fan of the franchise, don't pass it up, even though it did feel at times like the stars (especially Duchovny) have grown weary of their characters.

There likely will not be any more reboots.

Grade - Season 11: 7
