American Horror Story: Cult

American Horror Story: Cult centers around a fictionalized version of the 2016 American presidential election, the one that in real life managed to bring out of the shadows countless dark and unsavory characters who never before would have dared expressing themselves publicly, but who now felt legitimized by the unexpected election of a racist and Nazi-sympathizer to the Oval Office.

Bands of clown masked criminals terrorize the city. A lesbian couple has to deal with the increased level of terror and what it might mean for their and their son's safety. A young couple moves into a house whose previous owners were just violently murdered.

Meanwhile, a dissatisfied and perhaps mentally unstable young man cheers the election of a good-for-nothing disrupter to the highest office and, inspired, decides to run for local office himself.

Concurrently, he also sets up his own group of followers who closely resembles a cult. The dogged reporting of a local journalist, however, might become problematic.

I usually always enjoy this show very much (except for season five...), but perhaps because the 2016 election left me shell shocked, I found this season really hard to watch.

Grade - Season 7: 6
