The Grinch

THE GIST
: Cynical and perennially grumpy, the Grinch lives in solitude in a mountaintop cave with his loyal dog, Max. He occasionally ventures to Whoville, down below, for provisions, and it's always an annoyance. The worst is at Christmastime, when the Whos put up a loud and obnoxiously festive celebration. When he hears that this year they plan to make it three times as big, the Grinch decides he's had enough and starts plotting to steal Christmas. He never planned on a little girl's infinite cheer and what effect it might have on his little, wrinkled heart.

The Grinch is the latest big screen adaptation of the famous Dr. Seuss character, whose story I enjoy very much.

Benedict Cumberbatch lends his voice to the green creature and he's excellent, but big talent abounds, with Rashida Jones, Pharrell Williams, Kenan Thompson, and even Angela Lansbury!!

THE BOTTOM LINE: Eye popping animation, a well-done adaptation, great voice-over work. This should be able to please anybody … even the Grinch himself!
