Book Club

THE GIST
: Four lifelong friends have their own book club, where they rotate picking books for everyone to read. When one picks provocative bestseller Fifty Shades of Grey, their confidence and curiosity are suddenly awakened, leading them to make choices and take chances that will alter the course of their lives.

Book Club is a funny comedy with a fairly predictable story development, even though this doesn't diminish its overall entertainment level.

Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen are all fantastic, and the supporting cast is great too, with Andy Garcia, Craig T. Nelson, Don Johnson, Ed Begley Jr., Richard Dreyfuss, Wallace Shawn, and Alicia Silverstone.

THE BOTTOM LINE: This movie doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it's a cute and inspiring movie for anyone, especially those of us with a few more years on our backs.
