Punish the victims

That is the latest solution from a Republican Senator, this time it's Rick man-on-dog Santorum, for those who refuse to heed New Orlean's mayor Ray Nagin's order to evacuate the city.

Yes, let's punish those lucky enough to have survived the worst natural catastrophe in the history of this country, and whose homes might still be standing. After all, how are we gonna assign a no-bid contract to Halliburton to level New Orleans and then call in the richest and filthiest of our developer friends to rebuild the city to our specifications?

We couldn't possibly do that with all these people snooping around. And we certainly don't want to be told that we can't knock some houses down here and there and build a parking garage or a hotel because that's all they have in the world!

Unbelievable how these guys in Congress, these Republicans in Congress, just plain don't get it. They're just a bunch of overprivileged pricks, who don't care about those who don't have as much as they do. They do want their votes though. I can assure you that if this was 2006, 2 months from the midterm elections, we'd see a whole different kind of action and we'd hear very different words.

Please, America, don't forget the lessons of Katrina when you go in that booth next fall.
