Take number 2

A bill legalizing same-sex marriage is headed for California's Senate floor next week after clearing the Senate Appropriations Committee on Thursday.

The bill is the resuscitated same-sex marriage bill authored by gay Assemblyman Mark Leno, whose original bill fell four votes short in California's Assembly in June. Leno used a parliamentary move known as "gut and amend" to change a bill about fishing to a bill legalizing same-sex marriage.
"Allowing same-sex couples to access one another's health care plans, make joint medical decisions, inherit one another's property, file joint tax returns, and provide for their children without fear of them falling into foster care should one partner pass away is not only humane but fiscally prudent," said Leno in a press release by Equality California, the organization sponsoring the bill.
Let's hope this time it gets approved. And if it does, let's hope Schwarzenegger signs it into law.

I sure would feel better if Davis were still Governor...
