Climax

THE GIST: A troupe of dancers comes together for a night of rehearsing and celebration. Soon, some start acting rashly and even violently; others begin hallucinating or become paranoid. Someone realizes their drinks were likely spiked with LSD, which only adds to the confusion and anger. The place soon becomes a living hell.

I wasn't sure what to expect from Climax, a small, independent, foreign film that looked promising.

Ultimately, my impression was of a production aiming to be cool, sexy, alternative, and groundbreaking... largely missing the mark... and ending up a hot mess.

Its biggest sin, in my opinion, is that it takes itself way too seriously for what it actually delivers.

Great dancers might not be even semi-good actors, as it were.

THE BOTTOM LINE: This is probably one of those very polarizing movies that you either love or hate. I ended up closer to the hate camp, but who knows, maybe you'll love it.
