Brightburn

THE GIST: A normal-looking kid starts exhibiting odd and dangerous behaviors that point to inexplicable an extraordinary phenomena. His parents slowly become alarmed because they've been harboring a secret all his life.

Brightburn is a pretty well made drama with some horror tinting but not too much. It posits a very interesting question of what would happen if the story of Superman were flipped upside down and the super-being didn't turn out to be all that benign?

Young Jackson A. Dunn shows a lot of promise. Elizabeth Banks and David Denman are very good as well.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Good visual effects, a solid script, and a few thrills all add up to a good movie.

Grade: 7.5
