World War Z

The Gist: After being airlifted to safety with his family, Gerry, a former UN investigator, is forced to leave them behind and accompany a virologist to South Korea to try and find the source of an outbreak that causes people to suddenly and quickly turn into zombies. After several setbacks, Gerry might have an idea on how to stop the pandemic.

World War Z offers a new take on the well-worn zombie theme that actually feels fresh and bold. The twist is very simple, make the zombies stronger and faster than their human prey and suddenly the threat becomes much more urgent.

Directed by Marc Forster (The Kite Runner, Quantum of Solace) and starring Brad Pitt (also a producer), World War Z is full of action and plenty of tension. It's well written and well acted and the globe trotting offers up a wide variety of locales, each with their own handling and reaction to the crisis.

The Bottom Line: A great action movie with a solid story behind it that doesn't disappoint in the least. Highly recommended.
