Hell or High Water

THE GIST: Facing the imminent foreclosure of their ranch, two brothers go on a narrowly tailored bank robbing spree, targeting only one bank (the one holding their mortgage), small branches, and not taking huge amounts. Their goal is to steal enough to pay off the mortgage. A skilled and uncompromising Texas Ranger is on their tail with his trusted partner.

Hell or High Water is a crime/action movie that, given its locales, often feels like a modern day western as well.

Chris Pine and Ben Foster play the brothers, chased by Jeff Bridges and Gil Birmingham. They all do a great job.

THE BOTTOM LINE: A relentless game of cat-and-mouse with great acting and a cool bad-boy vibe underneath it all. Very good indeed.
