The Old Man and the Gun

THE GIST: Forrest Tucker, a lifelong bank robber, is now 70 and escapes prison once again, only to go on another string of robberies, together with another couple of old men. Because of their age and his positive attitude, the heists barely register on the law enforcement radar, until a detective makes it his goal to find the culprits, no matter how nice they might be. Throughout all this, Forrest even manages to start a romantic relationship.

Based on the true story of bank robber Forrest Tucker, The Old Man and the Gun is charming and endearing, sort of like Tucker appeared to his victims.

Robert Redford stars and shows us he still has what it takes to charm an audience. Sissy Spacek, Casey Affleck, Danny Glover, Tom Waits, Gene Jones, John David Washington, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Elisabeth Moss, and Keith Carradine also star.

THE BOTTOM LINE: A crime/thriller that manages to be funny and is based on a true story. Why not give it a whirl?
