Widows

THE GIST: During a heist, four robbers die in a shootout with the police. They leave four widows behind, one of whom is threatened by a gangster, who was robbed by her husband and now wants his money back. She sees no alternative but to try and enact a heist her husband had planned for the future, seeking the help of the other women.

Widows is a well executed heist film, with a finely-written script that expertly weaves many different storylines into a coherent whole.

An indomitable Viola Davis leads a stellar cast that includes Michelle Rodriguez, Elizabeth Debicki, Cynthia Erivo, Garret Dillahunt, Lukas Haas, Matt Walsh, Kevin J. O'Connor, Daniel Kaluuya, Brian Tyree Henry, Jon Bernthal, Colin Farrell, Liam Neeson, and the legendary Robert Duvall.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Get your popcorn ready and enjoy this smart caper that has a big final twist I did not see coming!
