THE GIST: The story of Jamie Fields, an ordinary teenager whose bohemian mother, Dorothea, tries to raise as much of a free spirit as possible. Divorced and very gregarious, Dorothea enlists the help of her renters to raise Jamie, hoping that together they will provide him with all he needs to grow up into a well rounded man.20th Century Women is a little gem of a movie. You don't expect too much going into it, but the wild lives these people live draw you in and make you wish you were their friend.
Annette Bening is fantastic as Dorothea, flanked by Elle Fanning, Greta Gerwig, Billy Crudup, and a young but very promising Lucas Jade Zumann.
THE BOTTOM LINE: Perhaps it won't make you top ten best list, but these characters will stay with you long after the credits have rolled.
