No Escape

THE GIST: Jack, an American engineer, relocates with his family to Southeast Asia to work on a promising new project. Unfortunately, shortly after they arrive, an insurrection explodes, with rebels assassinating the prime minister and executing any and all foreigners they encounter. Cut off from the rest of the world and not speaking the native language, Jack will have to find a way out of the country with his family without being spotted by the rebels.

No Escape is a pretty cool action movie that wisely centers around a very likable family with no pretenses of knowing how to fight their way out of such a dicey situation. Instead, they have to rely on their resourcefulness and on one another if they have any hopes of making it out alive.

Owen Wilson and Lake Bell are perfectly cast in their roles, and Pierce Brosnan turns in a nice performance as the man who decides to help the terrified family.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Overall well-made, this movie should please a large segment of the audience out there.
