Sebastiane

The Gist: Because of his Christian beliefs, Roman soldier Sebastian is remanded to a remote outpost, where his fellow soldiers, seemingly out of boredom and basal needs, have taken to freely have sex with one another in plain sight. This abandon further isolates Sebastian, but a centurion is smitten with him and Sebastian's rejection will result in shunning, bullying, and ultimately torture.

I will not deny that the main reason for watching this movie was its gay soft-core content, but I also knew that Sebastiane has become a seminal work of gay filmography.

Unfortunately, while the eye candy abounds and the movie is undeniably arousing, and in spite of a well thought out premise, both acting and direction leave a lot to be desired.

The Bottom Line: I'd recommend this only to gay viewers. Anyone else would be irremediably bored and disappointed.
