The Lady from Shanghai

The Gist: Michael, infatuated with a beautiful woman, takes a job on her husband's yacht on a trip from New York to San Francisco. Having started an affair, they plan on fleeing together once docked. In San Francisco, however, Michael is accused of murdering the husband's law partner, even though he maintains that he has been cleverly framed.

A classic of Hollywood's golden age cinema, The Lady from Shanghai showcases a fabulous Rita Hayworth, who is well matched with Orson Welles.

The Bottom Line: This film comes highly recommended. It might seem at first about an ordinary love affair, but soon intrigue and plot twists turn the tables on the audience. More than once.
