Loving

THE GIST: Richard and Mildred are in love, but because of the different color of their skin, they're not legally permitted to marry in 1958 Virginia, where they're from. They decide to marry out of state, where it's legal, but upon their return a legal nightmare begins that sees them barred from living in their own state. Their appeal will eventually make its way to the Supreme Court, which will deliver a historic ruling for the Loving couple.

Loving dramatizes the love story and life struggle of one of the bravest couples to ever fall for one another. Fortunately, their efforts were not in vain and, thanks to them, thousands of other couples across the country didn't have to face the same racially motivated injustice.

And isn't fate a jester after all? Richard could have had millions of other surnames, instead of Loving, but what more apt name could there have been for such a landmark case?

By the way, Ruth Negga and Joel Edgerton are both adorable and fantastic.

THE BOTTOM LINE: A great love story, a heartbreaking struggle, and a heartwarming finale make for a very good movie.
