THE GIST: At the height of the American-Soviet race to put a man in space, NASA ended up relying on the brains of a group of brilliant African-American women, who had to fight against the commonplace and institutionalized racism of American society just to do their jobs, and yet persisted and eventually prevailed.Hidden Figures is a really good movie that highlights the disparities that racism inflicts upon Black people in America in virtually every aspect of their lives. Eighty years have passed and yet not much has changed for a significant segment of the American population.
So sad and upsetting.
The excellent cast is lead by Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monáe. Also starring, Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst, Jim Parsons, Mahershala Ali, Aldis Hodge, and Glen Powell.
THE BOTTOM LINE: Great direction, a well written script, awesome performances, and a compelling tale, what are you waiting for?
