THE GIST: On a remote Pacific island, lush with rainforests and dominated by an active volcano, Dain and Wawa belong to rival tribes but are inexorably pulled towards one another, in defiance of ancient tribal rules that still govern everyday life.
Tanna was nominated for a Best Foreign Language Film Oscar.
It's sort of a Romeo and Juliet kind of story, but the magic of this movie lies in its location and the seemingly non-professional actors it features.
THE BOTTOM LINE: Unless you're dead-set against watching movies with subtitles, this is a nice love story with the additional bonus of wonderful photography. Give it a try!
