Paradise Now

THE GIST: Two disillusioned Palestinian men, who have been friends since childhood, are recruited as suicide bombers by a terrorist cell. In the process of setting their plan in motion, they are separated. The time delay might be enough for either, or both, to rethink their intentions. Will they?

Paradise Now is a very realistic and unsettling movie that provokes one's critical thinking.

How desperate must a person be to consider becoming a suicide bomber? Is there a way for Israelis and Palestinians to co-exist? What would it take?

Kais Nashif and Ali Suliman are both excellent.

THE BOTTOM LINE: A good, thought-provoking film from and about one of the most contested and fought-over lands on the globe. Definitely recommended.
