THE GIST: After the sudden disappearance of his mother, little Icare, nicknamed Courgette, is delivered by a cop to a foster home. There are other kids in the house, each with their own sad story, and life at first is a struggle, but eventually Courgette makes new friends and might even find his first love.
My Life as a Zucchini was nominated for a Best Animated Feature Oscar and I found it simply adorable.
The film is made using stop-animation, which adds a sort of tactile feel to it, almost as if you can touch the characters, and you'll definitely wish you could give Courgette a hug before long!
THE BOTTOM LINE: A really good story with a big heart at its center, perfect to introduce the little ones to the hardships some of their friends might go or have gone through.
