Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

THE GIST: After helping the Sovereign race defeat a powerful enemy, the Guardians get their reward, but Rocket can't resist and steals from them, sending the whole gang on the run. They're saved by Ego, who's a Celestial, an ancient and god-like being, who also reveals to Quill that he's his father. This would mean that Quill also has great powers, but is all this too good to be true?

The sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy, one of the best comic book adaptations I've seen, doesn't quite rise to the rarefied heights of the original, but doesn't disappoint either.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 tells a cool tale that's filled with both personal touches and intergalactic adventures, all interspersed with the self-deprecating humor that's the trademark of the Guardians.

The whole gang, led by Chris Pratt, is back, and they're as delightful as always. This time, Pom Klementieff as Mantis joins the team, while Kurt Russell seems to have a great time as Ego.

THE BOTTOM LINE: If you enjoyed the original, fear not, as the sequel is plenty fun and very well made. Another ace in Marvel Studios' deck.
