Logan

THE GIST: It's 2029, the X-Men have disbanded, no new mutants have emerged for 25 years, and an aging Logan cares in secret for Professor Xavier, who suffers from dementia. One day, he's asked to escort a young girl with mutant abilities to safety to Canada, to which he grudgingly agrees. Unfortunately, an obscure biotechnology company is hot on their heels with the intent to recover the girl.

After playing the Wolverine in countless X-Men movies, Hugh Jackman decided to call it quits with a final movie that would represent his swan song in the role of the Adamantium clawed warrior.

The result is Logan, which is not only a good entry in the X-Men universe and a good comic book hero movie, but it's probably the best about Wolverine and one of the best in the genre. In other words, Jackman went out with a bang.

THE BOTTOM LINE: A well structured script and good acting, peppered by great visual effects and a bleak cinematography make for one hell of a ride.

Grade: 8.5
