Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

THE GIST: Harry Potter and Professor Dumbledore keep warning about Lord Voldemort's return, frustrating the Ministry of Magic, which doesn't fully believe them and prefers to keep everyone calm. Harry is then introduced to the Order of the Phoenix, a secret organization founded by Dumbledore to oppose Voldemort. Meanwhile, the Ministry appoints one of their officials as a new teacher at Hogwarts, to keep an eye on things, and she wastes no time introducing stricter and stricter rules that prevent the students from learning any real defensive magic. That's when Harry and friends decide to teach themselves.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the fifth film in the franchise and our heroes are looking and acting more and more grown up. The central theme is, Who do you turn to when those in power ignore warnings and don't prepare for the worst? What do you do when they might have been infiltrated by the enemy?

Imelda Staunton and Helena Bonham Carter are the two biggest names added to the sprawling cast this time, and what great parts do they get to play!

THE BOTTOM LINE: Another well paced and entertaining entry for the Potter series, with only two books left to adapt for the big screen.

Grade: 7.5
