Ocean’s Eleven

THE GIST: Danny Ocean just got paroled after being jailed for robbery and fraud, but he has already planned his next heist. This time, he wants to rob the vault used by the three Las Vegas casinos controlled by Terry Benedict, an arrogant, ruthless, and sleazy tycoon who's also dating Ocean's ex-wife, Tess. Ocean recruits ten men with particular skills and expertise that he'll need to carry out the operation.

Ocean’s Eleven is Steven Soderbergh's remake of the 1960 original film starring Frank Sinatra, whose role seems perfectly tailored for the smooth and charming George Clooney.

The cast is a who's who of big names: Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Andy Garcia, Bernie Mac, Elliott Gould, Casey Affleck, Scott Caan, and Carl Reiner among others.

THE BOTTOM LINE: An excellent, taut direction for a well written screenplay, aided by brilliant editing that makes this puzzle's many pieces all come together flawlessly. The fantastic cast's work is the cherry on top. A must-see.

Grade: 8.5
