St. Vincent

THE GIST: Maggie moves to a new home with her son Oliver during her divorce proceedings. She's not too thrilled about her new neighbor Vincent, an older Vietnam veteran who drinks, gambles, seems angry at the world, only cares about enjoying himself, and is a regular client of a pregnant stripper, but she still engages him to watch her son while she's at work. Slowly, a close friendship develops between Oliver and Vincent, who teaches the young kid how to survive in the world.

St. Vincent is a cute little movie with a big heart at its center.

Melissa McCarthy, Naomi Watts, and Bill Murray are wonderful, and it's great to see Jaeden Martell so young and already so talented.

Chris O'Dowd, Terrence Howard, Nate Corddry, Ann Dowd, Scott Adsit, and Reg E. Cathey also star.

THE BOTTOM LINE: If you're looking for a fun night, check this out. Some of the themes might not be suited for the youngest ones, but otherwise it's a nice family movie.
