Wonder Woman

THE GIST: Amazonian princess Diana has trained as a warrior her whole life. She lives on Themyscira, an island hidden from the rest of the world by a powerful optical illusion. One day, a damaged aircraft crashes nearby and the pilot is grudgingly given shelter. He reveals that a horrific conflict, World War I, is consuming the world. Against her mother's advice, Diana escorts the pilot back to London, where she decides to help him in the fight. That's when Diana will discover her full potential, and become Wonder Woman.

Decades in the making, with countless false starts when compared to comic book adaptations led by male superheroes, Wonder Woman was well worth the wait.

This is one great adventure for the beloved DC Comics character, primarily thanks to the perfect casting choice of Gal Gadot, who embodies the warrior princess with gusto.

Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, and Saïd Taghmaoui make up a great supporting cast.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Awesome visual effects and a well developed script help the fierce princess achieve her deserved level of greatness in the Olympus of excellent comic book adaptations.

Grade: 8.5
