Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

THE GIST: Harry Potter and his friends are enjoying the Quidditch World Cup, when Lord Voldemort's followers, the Death Eaters, attack and wreak havoc. The brazen display forebodes the dark side's gathering strength and the imminent resurgence of Voldemort himself. Back at Hogwarts, preparations are made for hosting the prestigious Triwizard Tournament, in which Harry is surprisingly selected to participate despite not being eligible for it because too young and inexperienced. Is it part of a nefarious plot?

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the fourth entry in the Potter franchise and my favorite so far. The stakes are getting higher and so are the dangers faced by Harry & Co.

The Tournament is also a very cool succession of challenges, and the arrival on the scene of Voldemort, of course, takes the cake.

More famous names join the casting call this time, like Timothy Spall, David Tennant, Robert Pattinson, Brendan Gleeson, and of course Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort, and it's always great to see well known actors wanting to be part of this wonderful universe.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Four movies in, it's clear why these books and movies have so many fans worldwide: the Potter story is engaging and charming and inventive. Let it capture you too!
