Thor: Ragnarok

THE GIST: Just as Thor is about to succeed his father Odin on Asgard's throne, Hela, the goddess of death, claims it for herself. Hela is Thor's older sister, whose very existence was kept secret by Odin, who ultimately exiled her because she had become too powerful even for him to control. Thor tries to fight her, but she dumps him on a weird world where he ends up in a gladiator-style fight against the Incredible Hulk. Will he be able to make his way back and save Asgard from his sister?

Directed by Taika Waititi, a favorite of mine, Thor: Ragnarok is definitely my favorite Thor movie so far and one of the best comic book adaptations I've seen. Waititi brings his brand of humor to the more serious events unfolding onscreen with great success.

Chris Hemsworth is back as Thor together with Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, Mark Ruffalo, and Benedict Cumberbatch. This time we also get Karl Urban, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, and the magnificent Cate Blanchett as Hela.

Waititi also plays a lovable big guy who hopefully will get more screen time in the future.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Incredible visual effect aid the stellar cast bring to life a tale original and richly entertaining. A must see.
