Alien: Covenant

THE GIST: On its way to a distant planet for settlement and colonization with over 2,000 souls in stasis onboard, the spaceship Covenant is struck by a neutrino burst. Walter, the ship's android in charge of monitoring operations, awakens the crew to perform the necessary repairs, during which a transmission from a nearby planet is picked up. The decision to investigate will have far reaching consequences.

Alien: Covenant is the latest entry in the Alien franchise and overall pretty successful. The story functions as a sequel to Prometheus , and it presents an interesting and effective way of moving the story forward.

Both movies were directed by Ridley Scott, the brilliant creator of the original Alien, one of my favorite sci-fi and horror movies of all time.

Michael Fassbender plays two androids in this movie and just imagine the treat of watching such a great actor (and handsome fella) playing against himself!

Also in the cast Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, and Jussie Smollett.

THE BOTTOM LINE: A worthy entry in the Alien series, I enjoyed it and found it pretty clever.

Grade: 7.5
