The Nun

THE GIST: A priest with expertise in demonic possessions and a young novitiate are sent by the Vatican to investigate the apparent suicide of a nun in a Romanian abbey. Once there, they discover a deep-seated presence that has been trying to rise from the depths of Hell for centuries.

The Nun is the sixth movie belonging to The Conjuring universe and the second spin off, after the overall less successful Annabelle series.

I'm not sure whether there will be sequels, but as far as this movie is concerned, it is decently scary and overall of passable quality for the horror fan; just don't set your expectations too high. The two Conjuring movies still sit at the top in my opinion.

Demián Bichir and Taissa Farmiga, sister of The Conjuring's Vera, certainly give it their best and are always fun to watch in action. The gorgeous Jonas Bloquet provides plenty of eye candy...

THE BOTTOM LINE: I'd recommend The Nun mostly to fans of the whole franchise, just so that you can add to the lore. Otherwise it's just okay.
