Ennio Morricone (November 10, 1928 - July 6, 2020)
I probably first heard his music as a kid, when my parents would put on some Italian spaghetti western film, learning to recognize those unique movie soundtracks without even knowing how deeply I would have fallen in love with motion picture music in general and Morricone's work in particular.
He was one of my favorites, his music so moving and original; so engrossing and enveloping.
According to IMDb, he had 520 composer credits and 344 soundtrack credits to his name!!
Among his most famous works: A Fistful of Dollars, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the West, Novecento, The Thing, Once Upon a Time in America, The Mission, The Untouchables, Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, Bugsy, Mission to Mars, and The Hateful Eight.
He will be missed. R.I.P.
